It
was a tale of vengeance, betrayal, war and retribution, but most
importantly, love. Yes, love, in the midst of an age-old feud, between
two very prominent families, the Catulets and Meowtegues. These two
families had been at each other’s throats for years, and in fact,
hardly anyone really remembered why. Some catnip toy, stolen decades
ago, was spoken of every once in a while, but either way, it was as if
this hatred between them was meant to be. That was, until Mittens and
Fluffy met one another.
It was at a ball.
That’s right, Mittens had been playing with his favorite jingly
ball at the time, amusing himself by batting it around, until, out of
the corner of his eye, he noticed, he was not alone. When he turned to
see who it was that had approached him, he was met by a young and
beautiful feline.
“Why, your fur is as white as that of the
mouse I ate this morning,” He said, flashing a devilish smirk. It
was in the Meowtegue’s nature to immediately attempt to charm any
young ladies who he crossed paths with.
“Thank you, sir.” She mewed with
a shy smile. “My name is Fluffy. And you are?”
“Mittens.”
And it was love! The two
families’ feud was an obstacle to their affection, but it
mattered little to the young couple. After several minutes of getting
to know each other, they decided to marry. To do this, however, they
needed to sneak out of town. Mittens, being a black tomcat, could
easily leave the town in the dead of night and go undetected, but for
Fluffy it was a bit more difficult. She would need a disguise. So, she
snuck into her graying old grandma’s hair-dye stash and dyed her
fur, so she would appear to be a brunette.
And that is the tale of Mittens and Fluffy, how
Fluffy turned brown, and how old Mrs. Catulet lost her hair-dye.
THE END~
